Medical Aesthetics More Common
Dr Wan firmly believes that beauty and confidence go hand in hand and positively influence all aspects of life. An attractive physical appearance should be accessible to all, not just a privileged few.
Medical aesthetics treatments are becoming increasingly mainstream and accepted by the general public in Singapore. More and more Singaporeans are undergoing medical aesthetics treatments, which is actually a good thing. At the very least, medical aesthetics treatments are evidence-based and effective, which is more than can be said for traditional beauty salon treatments.
Misconceptions Still Abound
In the course of his daily practice, Dr Wan found that many patients have misconceptions about aesthetics treatments, or lack an accurate understanding of the medical basis for the treatment.
These myths may be propagated by beauty salon therapists and contributed to by inadequate or incomplete explanation by busy aesthetics doctors.
Sometimes the doctors themselves may not have read the latest research findings or have outdated ideas of how to treat certain conditions. Sometimes it’s simply a case of the doctor not having enough time to explain the intricacies of the science behind the aesthetics treatment.
This personal blog was started in the hopes of clearing up the myths and half-truths floating around so that patients are better informed, more discerning and better empowered to choose appropriately, reducing the risks of procedures gone wrong or not to their expectations.
Driven by a deep passion to hone his craft, Dr Wan is constantly refining carefully selected techniques and tirelessly reviewing the latest evidence-based medical research. He is always on the lookout for new ways to make medical aesthetics better, safer and more comfortable for his patients and patients everywhere. This sometimes culminates in ‘epiphanies’ on how to improve the treatment of various conditions.
By sharing these insights via this blog, Dr Wan hopes that more patients can benefit.
